Desktop vaporizers have been making weed enthusiasts life easier for over 20 years. In fact, the first dry herb vaporizer ever created was a desktop vape.
Desktop devices plug into your power outlet in the wall and as their name suggests, they sit on a table or bench top. That is to say, these vapes are not built to be carried around.
Due to the lack of portability, many people new to vaping cannabis decides on a portable dry herb vaporizer though. Other reasons behind that decision is price and convenience.
As opposed to table top vaporizers, portable vapes can be used on the go and usually cost less.
Since 2014, we have observed an increasing trend of decline in the popularity of desktop vapoizers. As more and more affordable portable vapes have been coming onto the market, less and less desktop vaporizers are sold.
Does that mean that plug in style weed vaporizers are not as good as portable ones? No it definitely doesn’t.
As a matter of fact, many seasoned cannabis enthusiast has a desktop vape. The only disadvantage to them is their lack of portability, however they have a lot of advantages.
They usually come with a powerful and reliable heating element. Because they plug straight into your power plug, they are not limited by battery capacity and life. Also they are not limited by size either. In fact some of them are pretty heavy and bulky.
In addition, they have a lot longer vapor path or a balloon vapor collection system. In both cases, the vapor is always cooler and never as hot as using a portable device.
Naturally, many regular cannabis users end up with a desktop vaporizer. They may not be portable, however they are almost impossible to beat on vapor quality.
